Beach glass is glass that is discarded into the sea. The sea then tosses and tumbles it
for years and years. The outcome is a beautiful, luminous form of glass, which lays on
the many sandy shores around the world. There are a variety of names for beach glass,
like marine gems, beach glass, and mermaid tears to name a few.
I create hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces using beach glass.
I use only natural beach glass, and sterling silver wrapping wire, chains, and components.
In some of my pieces, I also use genuine swarovski crystal and freshwater pearls with the beach glass to further
enhance the subtle hues and tones of the glass.
Natural beach glass
All of the beach glass jewelry on this site is made with real beach glass.
You can be assured that it has not been placed in a tumbler, colored or altered in any way.
Other than a drill hole it comes to you as found on the beach. I use beach glass found on my
local beach or that I receive from friends. The North American Sea Glass Association website
has published an excelent article on "Genuine vs. Artificial" beach glass that you
may read by clicking here.
Materials Used
All metal is .925 sterling silver. That includes the sterling silver wrapping wire, chains,
clasps, earrings, etc. The crystals used with the beach glass are genuine Swarovski crystal
which compliments the beach glass. I also use sterling silver
spacer beads and pewter charms to adorn earrings or bookmarks. Adhesives, glues, and plated
wire are never used.
Handmade beach glass Jewelry
The Glass Mermaid Jewelry is truly handmade. I design all of the jewelry, wrap the glass,
attach the pendants, crystals and beads myself, and choose and attach the components.
Components are known as findings which hold jewelry together. On some of the pieces I design
and make the components.
Each piece of beach glass jewelry is formed by nature and is truly one-of-a-kind.
What you see in the picture is the exact piece you will receive.

I find that creating with beach glass is keeping the circle of life going.
What I mean by that is that the creation of glass begins with sand.
And so isn't it sort of magical that some of the worlds glass ends up back on the shores
with the sand from which they came? The circle of life for these pieces, anyway,
is complete in a way. And by creating a jewelry piece with the glass, it captures the glass
in its most beautiful phase and will forever remain as beautiful and alluring as when it was
found. Thank you for visiting my web site, and I hope you enjoy your experience.
